Prague's nightlife is easiest to pick by district: the Old Town for big clubs and cocktail bars, the New Town for gigs, Žižkov for pubs and concerts, Holešovice for electronic nights that run until morning. The metro stops at midnight, then night trams run every 30 minutes until 4:30, and lines 91–99 all stop at Lazarská. Organised pub crawls are banned, and so is drinking on party streets such as Dlouhá and Národní. Around Prague checked 23 venues on their own websites, plus PID timetables and Prague's rules, on 2 November 2026.
This guide helps you choose an area, get home and avoid a bad bill. For more addresses, see our lists of 12 bars and clubs, jazz clubs, beer halls and pubs and wine bars.

|---|---|---|
| Pub crawls | Since 1 November 2024 Prague's market rules ban services sold on the move, except guided walks between 6:00 and 22:00. Prague 1 says this in practice bans organised pub crawls. | Aimed at organisers; we found no separate figure for guests |
| Quiet hours | 22:00–6:00 by national law, in the street as well as at home | Up to CZK 10,000, repeat 15,000; prague.eu quotes EUR 400 |
| Street drinking | Banned on listed streets, including Dlouhá, Kozí, Masná, Jakubská, Michalská, Národní and Na Příkopě, plus Wenceslas Square and Charles Bridge. Also within 100 m of metro entrances, schools, health facilities and playgrounds, and at stops. Holding an open bottle counts. | Up to CZK 100,000 by law, up to 10,000 on the spot |

Terraces, licensed stalls, public festivals, 31 December and 1 January are exempt from the drinking ban. The legal age for alcohol is 18. UK advice says to carry your passport, though police normally accept a scan, and warns that some city-centre bars refuse stag groups. Police may take very drunk people to a sober-up facility, and you pay for the stay.
Drugs: since 1 January 2026 adults over 21 may carry up to 25 g of cannabis outside their home, but selling or offering it remains a crime. Other drugs stay illegal. The UK and German advice pages still warn that possession is punishable, so do not buy anything on the street.
In an emergency call 112, police on 158, city police on 156. The police station at Jungmannovo náměstí 9 is open 24 hours with English-speaking interpreters. Every Prague lamppost carries a 6-digit code that tells police where you are. More in our Prague safety guide and emergency numbers.
It depends on the night you want: the Old Town for clubs and cocktails, Žižkov for pubs and bands, Holešovice for electronic music until morning.
Karlovy Lázně closes at 4:00 or 5:00 and Chapeau Rouge's club at 5:00. Cross Club's main bar runs until 7:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Most cocktail bars in our table close between 1:00 and 3:00.
Yes. Night trams run every 30 minutes between midnight and 4:30, and day service then takes over.
Organised ones, in practice, yes. Since 1 November 2024 only guided walks between 6:00 and 22:00 are allowed.
Not on the main nightlife streets of the centre, near metro entrances or at stops. An open bottle counts as drinking.
The main risks for visitors are padded bills, spiked drinks, pickpockets and taxis. See the list above and our safety guide.
