Car crashes into truck on D2 motorway near Brno: woman and three children injured

A serious road accident occurred on the D2 motorway heading toward Brno, when a car slammed into the trailer of a truck driving ahead of it. The woman driving the car and the three children she was carrying were injured in the crash.

According to police, the accident took place at the 6th kilometre of the motorway. “Preliminary information suggests the female driver of the car became distracted and crashed into the truck’s trailer,” police said on social media platform X.

Motorway closed, traffic diverted via Bluèina

The crash left the Brno-bound section of the D2 impassable. Police set up a diversion via the exit at the 11th kilometre near the village of Bluèina and warned drivers to expect delays.

Firefighters worked at the scene, freeing one of the injured from the wrecked car.

Child airlifted to hospital

Several ambulance crews and a rescue helicopter were dispatched to help the injured. According to Michaela Botová, a spokesperson for the South Moravian rescue service, the woman was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with moderate to serious injuries. One of the children suffered similarly serious injuries and, after receiving initial care, was airlifted to the Children’s Hospital in Brno.

The two other children were also taken to hospital for a precautionary check-up.
