Litvínov police car kept off patrol over lettering error in Czechia

New Litvínov police car kept off patrol over a lettering error

Litvínov city police received a new service vehicle on Wednesday, but it has not yet gone out on patrol: an error in the lettering was found on its side. The car is parked outside the service building until it is fixed, the city police said in a statement on Friday.

Officers knew about the inaccuracy in the vehicle's markings from the start. According to them, the mistake was made by the specialist supplier that applied the lettering film. “Even professionals, unfortunately, sometimes make mistakes,” the statement says.

The vehicle is being returned under complaint. The supplier has acknowledged the shortcoming and will completely re-apply the lettering as soon as possible, adding all the required elements. Once the car is in perfect order and properly marked, it will go on patrol fully equipped.

The police say the new car will noticeably strengthen their fleet: it replaces a worn-out vehicle and will improve the comfort, reliability and efficiency of daily service. It has more room for the equipment officers need on the job, which should make it easier for them to handle a wide range of situations on the spot.
