Posobice is a tiny hamlet in the foothills of the Šumava, one kilometer north of Petrovice u Sušice, of which it is a part. It has 8 houses and 14 permanent residents, and the first written mention of the village dates from 1334.
Little is known about the village's history. The buildings mostly date from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and have been rebuilt, though some farm buildings may be older. A large agricultural complex stands on the edge of the village. The blue hiking trail from Petrovice to Sušice and cycle route No. 2079 run through the village. A small road with minimal traffic connects it to Petrovice, and no public transport goes there.
Visitors will notice two old lime trees in a fenced plot and a small chapel built into the fence. It is square in plan, with an arched entrance and a grille in the door. The corners are picked out with strips, the side and rear walls are smooth and windowless, and the walls are crowned with a cornice. The gable is triangular, with a round niche in the middle holding a small statue.
Above the chapel is a small tin pyramidal roof, topped by a four-sided turret with a bell and a spire with a cross. Inside you can see an image of the Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus and modest furnishings.
Around the village stretch meadows with fine views of the countryside and a few small ponds. It is an interesting spot and definitely worth a look.
