On the Tauern motorway (A10) in Austria, police stopped a bus with Czech number plates during a routine transport check. The incident took place at around 1:10 pm, when the bus was directed to pull off the motorway for a detailed inspection.
The inspection revealed that the service and parking brake systems, as well as all four tyres, were in such poor condition that continuing the journey was deemed a danger to life and health. According to an Austrian outlet, the vehicle was effectively a “ticking time bomb” for the roughly 30 passengers on board, as well as for other road users.
As a result, police confiscated the bus’s number plates and registration documents, banning it from the road entirely. Passengers had to wait by the motorway until a replacement bus arrived to pick them up and continue the journey.
