Czech national team eyeing Rangers striker

Rangers forward John Nadery could earn a place in the first Czech national squad to be named by the team's new Spanish coach, Santi Denia, this coming Friday. The arrival of a new striker is especially timely after Patrick Schick, long regarded as the team's leading forward, bid farewell to the national side following the World Cup.

Nadery is 23 years old and was born in Dresden, Germany, to a Czech mother and a Bulgarian father. According to the German outlet Bild, the player once turned down the chance to play for his father's homeland a few years ago, but the situation now looks far more favourable for the Czech side.

No passport yet, but citizenship already secured

Reports indicate that while Nadery does not yet hold a Czech passport, he has already obtained citizenship. This clears the way for him to feature in the upcoming Nations League matches against Croatia, England and Spain. Sport.cz reached out to the Czech Football Association for comment earlier in the day, but no official response has been given so far.

According to Bild, Germany's national team could theoretically also enter the race for the player, but it appears Nadery has a better chance of making his mark in a Czech jersey. He began his career at Dynamo Dresden, before playing for Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hansa Rostock, from which he moved to Glasgow Rangers this past February.

A six-million-euro transfer

The move cost the Scottish club six million euros (roughly 146 million crowns). Nadery has made 21 official appearances for Rangers so far, scoring 6 goals and providing 6 assists. In Conference League qualifying, he found the net against Jablonec, though the North Bohemian club ultimately eliminated the Scots on penalties.
