Driver killed in three-wheeled motorcycle crash near Rakovník

A tragic accident occurred in the Central Bohemian Region, near Rakovník: a three-wheeled motorcycle (a "trike") went off the road while overtaking. The driver died despite paramedics' efforts to resuscitate him, while his female passenger, who suffered moderate injuries, was airlifted by helicopter to Prague's Motol University Hospital.

Witnesses alerted firefighters to the crash at 11:15 am. “The trike had gone off the road, and two people were handed over to the ambulance crew,” said Jan Sikora, spokesman for the Central Bohemian fire brigade. Professional firefighters from Rakovník and a volunteer unit from Jesenice responded to the scene.

Resuscitation efforts failed

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the severely injured driver at the scene. “A crew was on site providing care to the patient, but despite every effort and resuscitation attempts, the patient died at the scene,” said Marek Hylebrant, spokesman for the Central Bohemian Emergency Medical Service. The motorcycle's passenger remained conscious and was flown to Motol Hospital by helicopter.

Cause of the crash still under investigation

The three-wheeled motorcycle was not involved in a collision with any other vehicle. According to available information, the driver veered off the roadway while overtaking and crashed. Police continue to investigate the exact circumstances and causes of the tragic accident.
