Reuters has released CCTV footage capturing the moment a massive, destructive wave slammed into the border crossing between Nepal and Tibet in the Kyirong area. According to local authorities, dozens of deaths have been confirmed, while hundreds of people remain missing — including foreign tourists.
The disaster struck several districts of northern Nepal on Wednesday morning, triggered by a sudden flash flood and landslide. Officials say the swollen Sun Koshi and Trishuli rivers swept away entire villages, homes and infrastructure.
The footage released by the agency looks like something out of a disaster movie: within seconds, the surging water tears through everything in its path, leaving behind flattened buildings and washed-out terrain. Rescue teams are continuing to search for the missing, and the full extent of the damage has yet to be determined.
