In Plzeň, city police helped reunite a little boy with his parents after he went missing along with his dog. According to the Plzeň City Police press office, the child was able to give his name, age and his mother's name, but didn't know his date of birth or a phone number.
Officers managed to figure out where the boy's family lived, but couldn't get in touch with his mother directly. Since the child had his dog with him, a patrol unit specialising in animal handling was called in — officers tried scanning the pet's microchip in hopes of tracking down the owner that way. That approach, too, led nowhere.
In the end, it was sheer luck that solved the case. A city police assistant was brought in to help communicate with the boy more easily, and during the conversation it emerged that the child's mother belonged to a group chat on a popular messaging platform. Thanks to that, officers finally managed to get hold of her phone number.
The mother soon arrived at the station and picked up her little traveller along with the dog. She explained that her son was supposed to be looked after by his older sister — but the sister forgot all about it and never even came home.
