On Wednesday, shortly before noon, a metal gate collapsed onto a three-year-old boy on Špičák mountain in the Šumava region. This was confirmed by Luboš Bouček, spokesperson for the regional ambulance service, who said paramedics treated the child after he was struck by the structure.
The injured boy was handed over to colleagues from the air ambulance service. According to their spokesperson, Martin Harvat, the boy was diagnosed with a moderate injury to his lower limb. "He was stabilised, and we transported him to the University Hospital in Plzeň," he said.
Police spokeswoman Eva Červenková said no official report of the incident had been filed with police. "Nevertheless, once it became known that the incident had indeed taken place, officers from Klatovy are now investigating it," she added.
