Missing mother of two: police search her office in Ostrava, search also underway in Slovakia

The search continues in Czechia for Jana Šerženiková, a mother of two who went missing on the morning of Thursday, September 3. She left home but never showed up for work in Ostrava. She has not been in contact with her family since, and according to available information, she has no phone, documents or wallet with her.

According to Tomáš Zapletal, director of the Frýdek-Místek municipal police, local police have also joined the search effort, granting investigators access to the city's CCTV network to help check various leads. However, he noted that the investigation itself remains entirely under the jurisdiction of the state police, and municipal officers have not been involved in the operational side of the case.

Office search and search abroad

Police also visited the missing woman's workplace — the Regional Court in Ostrava. According to court spokesman Igor Krajdl, investigators questioned staff and searched her office, spending a considerable amount of time on site.

The search has extended beyond Czechia's borders as well. According to Roman Hájek, spokesman for the Presidium of the Police Force of Slovakia, Jana Šerženiková has been entered into international missing persons databases. "The search is being carried out as part of the routine operations of the Police Force of the Slovak Republic. Should we receive additional requests from Czech law enforcement, we are ready to provide the necessary assistance," he said.

Police have already repeatedly checked possible locations where the woman might be — medical facilities, shopping centers, parks — but so far without results. Investigators do not rule out that her life and health may be at risk; the inquiry into her disappearance has been underway since the evening of September 2.
