Plzeň Police Catch Unlicensed BMW Driver Three Times in 17 Days

Municipal police in the Czech city of Plzeň stopped the same unlicensed driver three times in 17 days, each time finding him behind the wheel of a BMW under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The most recent stop took place just after midnight on Tuesday near Bory Park.

"It was exactly the man our patrol expected to see behind the wheel," said Tereza Vajdlová, spokeswoman for the Plzeň municipal police. According to her, the driver himself seemed puzzled as to why he was being checked at all — even though there were several good reasons for it.

Drugs and Alcohol at the Wheel

The check once again confirmed that the man had no driving licence, and he admitted to having used pervitin (crystal meth). This time, however, drugs weren't the only issue — a breathalyser test showed 0.34 per mille of alcohol, the police spokeswoman added.

Three Encounters in Three Weeks

Officers first caught the self-styled "driver" on September 7, when he tried to flee from them in the same BMW, reaching speeds of nearly 110 km/h. By his own admission, he wanted to see whether he could outrun the patrol. A week later, officers stopped him again — that time, the test came back positive for amphetamines and methamphetamine.

This third arrest will have further consequences, as the case has now been taken over by the state police.
