Cyclist Falls on Road in Beskydy Mountains, Left in Critical Condition

On Saturday, around 1:30 PM, in the Staré Hamry area of the Beskydy Mountains, a 37-year-old cyclist lost control while descending a road leading from a tourist lodge to route I/56, falling to the ground and ending up partly on the roadway. This was reported by police spokeswoman Soňa Štětinská.
According to police, the man most likely veered into a ditch, then lost his balance while trying to maneuver and fell. Witnesses found him lying unconscious and called an ambulance.
According to Lukáš Humpl, spokesman for the Moravian-Silesian Region's rescue service, the emergency team from Frýdlant nad Ostravicí suspected the victim had suffered a life-threatening head injury — paramedics established intravenous access and began infusion therapy along with oxygen inhalation.
The doctor who arrived at the scene administered the necessary medication to the injured man, secured his airway, and connected him to a ventilator. "The man was transported in extremely critical condition to the emergency department of the University Hospital in Ostrava," Humpl said.
The exact circumstances of the accident — how the cyclist was riding and what caused him to fall — are now being investigated by traffic police in Frýdek-Místek.
