South Bohemian Vet Also Spots Mysterious Black Predator in the Forest

Reports of a mysterious large predator resembling a panther continue to emerge from South Bohemia — this time a local veterinarian, Josef Daněk, has come forward with his own account after spotting the animal at night from a hunting stand.

"I was sitting up in the stand at night, scanning the area through night-vision binoculars. Suddenly I noticed something that looked like a large cat. I couldn't make out the colour — the night-vision device shows everything in different tones. At first I thought it was a lynx. But once the animal came closer to the stand, it was clear it wasn't," Daněk recalled.

He said the animal's build was completely different from a lynx's. "At one point it turned sideways, and that's when I realised it definitely wasn't a lynx. It had an elongated, stretched-out body and a long, distinctive tail — like a puma or a panther," the vet added.

He spotted the predator from about twenty metres away, up in the stand. "It didn't sense me — I was high enough up. I watched it for about 15 seconds before it disappeared. I didn't manage to film it, but I'm certain it wasn't a wild boar or any other forest animal," Daněk stressed.

He reported the sighting to the local hunting association right away. "Later, a fisherman I know came up to me — he'd also seen the predator for a few seconds during the day before it vanished. He, too, said the animal looked like a puma or panther," the vet said.

Over the past three weeks, several people in different locations across South Bohemia have reported seeing a large black predator resembling a panther. The most recent sighting occurred just this past weekend, when a woman near Tábor caught the animal on her mobile phone camera.

It remains unclear exactly what kind of animal is roaming the forests of South Bohemia. No breeder of exotic animals or zoo has reported an escaped predator. Police are now investigating the case.
