Ukraine Launches Massive Drone Strike on Moscow on Duma Election Day

In the early hours of Sunday, Ukrainian drones carried out what Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called the largest attack on the Russian capital since the start of the war. According to him, 151 drones were shot down over Moscow, with no casualties among city residents.

Sobyanin claimed the strike was timed to coincide with the end of the three-day voting period for the State Duma elections and was allegedly intended to "disrupt the elections." "The enemy has failed," he wrote on Telegram.

Casualties in the Moscow Region

The situation was different in the Moscow region, where Governor Andrei Vorobyov reported two people killed and six wounded. A man died in the Orekhovo-Zuyevsky district, and a woman was killed in the village of Sofyino.

According to Ukrainian sources, a technology park in the Ramenskoye area was successfully hit. Another strike targeted Moscow's Kapotnya district, home to major oil refineries that have repeatedly come under Ukrainian attack. Drones also struck the city of Dzerzhinsk.

Russian Retaliatory Strikes on Ukraine

In those same days, Russia continued its drone attacks on Ukrainian territory. In the Kyiv region, a strike killed a mother and her two young children — a girl and a boy. Timur Tkachenko, head of the Fastiv district military administration, reported that the tragedy occurred late Saturday evening. According to Reuters, citing rescuers, the children were three years old.

In the morning, Tkachenko added that a Russian drone also killed in the Vyshhorod district north of Kyiv, where a child who had been severely wounded later died in hospital.

In addition, according to a Ukrainian news agency, a Russian drone struck a monastery in the Kherson region on Saturday, killing a 71-year-old priest and wounding four other people. Another attack on the Kherson region left three people dead.
