A wild bear has been spotted in the Czech Beskids — the animal was seen on Wednesday near the Zlatník-Klaus area close to the village of Krásná. The news was confirmed by official websites of nearby villages, including Raškovice and Krásná, which have urged residents to exercise increased caution.

«Please secure your homes, gardens and beehives. Do not leave animals unattended, and stay alert», — the warning posted on the local municipal websites reads.

News of the bear has sparked lively discussion on the region's village social media pages. Some commenters dismiss it as a rumor, while others are asking whether it's still safe to go hiking in the mountains.

The administrator of Raškovice's Facebook page explained that the decision on safety is ultimately up to each individual, but that caution is generally advisable, and people should think carefully before heading into the forest with children. «A bear can cover dozens of kilometers in a single day, so the fact that it was seen in Krásná today doesn't mean it will still be there tomorrow — it could move in any direction, including well beyond the local area», — the administrator noted.
