Canoeist Josef Dostal ties the knot: bride arrives at the wedding by boat

Czech sprint canoeist and seven-time world champion Josef Dostal married his longtime partner Anežka in the town of Vyšší Brod. The ceremony took place right after the World Canoe Sprint Championships in Poznań, where both athletes had competed.

The couple had planned to marry earlier, but the birth of their child pushed back their plans. "We wanted Anežka to be able to fully enjoy the day, and we wanted it to line up with the season. So instead of getting married a year later, it ended up being more than two years," the 33-year-old athlete explained.

The celebration was held at a mill belonging to friends of the couple. "It's like something out of a fairy tale here," Dostal said with delight. His bride, who is six years his junior and now goes by the surname Dostalová, made a striking entrance at the ceremony — arriving by boat.

"It's right by the water, and that was the main thing we wanted for our wedding," the champion shared.
