Children Beat and Trample Four-Year-Old Boy at Kindergarten in Hodonín Region — Investigation Underway

A disturbing incident has come to light at a kindergarten in the town of Dubňany, in the Hodonín region, where a group of children beat and trampled a four-year-old boy on the school playground. The incident, which took place in early September, was filmed by a neighbour and the footage later reached the injured boy's parents.

The video shows no teacher present anywhere near the children, and according to the boy's mother, kindergarten management itself was initially unaware that anything had happened on the premises.

Official Response and Safety Measures

The situation was discussed at a city council meeting on Wednesday evening. Council members said the Czech School Inspectorate has already begun examining the kindergarten, with the results of its inquiry expected within 30 days.

"As the school's founder, the town will base its further actions, among other things, on the inspectorate's findings," said Dubňany Mayor Zbyněk Lysý (of the "For Dubňany" movement).

He added that the city council had also been briefed on immediate safety measures introduced at the kindergarten. These include reducing the number of children allowed on the playground at any one time and reorganising staff positioning to strengthen supervision of preschoolers during outdoor play.

What the Police Say

Police are also investigating the incident, though given its sensitive nature they have declined to share details of the inquiry.

"Given the ongoing police investigation and the unfinished work of the Czech School Inspectorate, the town will not pre-empt their conclusions or attempt to assess the potential responsibility of specific individuals. Our shared goal is for children and their parents to feel safe in kindergartens," the mayor stressed.
