StarDance 2026 kicks off with nine contestants and a new voting app

The 14th season of the Czech dance show StarDance began this year with nine contestants: after actress Petra Nesvačilová's injury, nine celebrities remain in the competition. The season is marked by the 20th anniversary of the show in Czechia, which has featured 130 well-known people, each paired with a professional dancer.

From the very beginning, the show has been hosted by Tereza Kostková and Marek Eben. Before this season they said it would be their last. Who will replace them is not yet known.

On the first night, Marta Jandová, Thomas Sean Pšenička, Sára Sandeva, Radek Štěpánek, Hana Dvorská, Tomáš Matonoha, Luciana Tomášová, Tomáš Polák and Vojtěch Dyk performed. Jandová and Martin Prágr opened the evening with a cha-cha-cha. Sandeva and Daniel Maková then showed a waltz, while Pšenička and Natali Otágová danced a samba. Štěpánek and Wanda Bartošová Dětinská performed a cha-cha-cha, Matonoha and Lenka Nora Návrková a waltz, and Tomášová and Robin Ondráček a samba. Polák and Adriana Mašková danced a cha-cha-cha, Dyk and Katarína Malek a samba, and Dvorská and Michal Kurtiš closed the evening with a cha-cha-cha.

Nesvačilová danced a simplified waltz

Petra Nesvačilová and Filip Hudlický performed a lighter version of the waltz, in which the actress used her healthy upper body. Judge Tatiana Drexler remarked: “There were people here who danced far less than Petra. And nothing happened to them.” Everyone wished the actress a speedy recovery.

The highest score from the judges went to Vojtěch Dyk and Katarína Malek, with 30 points. Otherwise, the four judges were stingy on the first night. The lowest scores went to Tomáš Polák and Adriana Mašková, just 11 points.

As usual, the audience included the contestants' guests, as well as participants and winners from previous years. Viewers could not yet vote on the first night, and no couple has been eliminated so far.

Voting via the app

From next week, voting will be possible as usual by SMS and online, and now also through the app. Each person can send three times ten votes.

The season ends on December 12. The schedule includes two themed nights: one devoted to fairy tales, the other to the 1980s. As always, there will be a charity night in support of Centrum Paraple, and the fifth episode will be dedicated to the 20th anniversary of StarDance in Czechia.

According to the bookmaker Fortuna, the favorites before the start were singer and actor Vojtěch Dyk, actress Sára Sandeva and actor and singer Thomas Sean Pšenička. The outsiders are said to be actor Tomáš Matonoha and musician Tomáš Polák; on the first night, both readily agreed with that role themselves.
