Czechia launches its first radio station for the LGBT community — Radio Q

Czechia's first radio station aimed at the LGBT community, Radio Q, has gone on air. The station launched on Wednesday, September 9, fittingly at 9:00 a.m., and is now available, among other platforms, via Myonlineradio.

The broadcast is overseen by the association European People & Media, z. s., founded by René Kekelly. The same organization is also behind another media project, WorldRadio.

Music, education and open dialogue

According to its founders, Radio Q's goal is to build a quality media platform combining entertainment, education and music. The station's website states: "Radio Q wants to be a modern 21st-century media outlet — open, professional and socially responsible." Beyond music, the station promises content designed to inform, educate and foster mutual understanding among people.

The founders say their ambition is to turn Radio Q into a respected platform for expert and public discussion, one that makes room for a wide range of opinions, experiences and personal stories.

Music for everyone

The website also notes that the station's music playlist is carefully curated with listeners' preferences in mind, though it is meant for everyone — regardless of age, identity or life path. "We want to be the voice of those who aren't always heard," is how the project's creators sum up their message, adding: music, pride and culture.
