Former porn star Rosenberg runs for Prague City Council with the Free Citizens' Party

Former adult film star Rosenberg has decided to try his hand at politics — he is running for a seat on Prague's City Council with the Free Citizens' Party (Svobodní), taking 25th place on the citywide list. He himself is standing as a non-affiliated candidate.

"I'm running for city hall with the Free Citizens' Party because I believe there's a lot in our city that could be changed for the better," Rosenberg said in a video on his Instagram page, where he has been promoting his candidacy.

From the ring to the porn industry

The 51-year-old Rosenberg now works as a boxing coach, training amateurs and athletes alike, as well as children, people in wheelchairs and people with autism. Besides his career in adult film, he has in the past been linked to robbery and human trafficking cases, though he ultimately received only a suspended sentence for drug possession.

Not the first scandal-tinged candidate

A past in the adult film industry doesn't necessarily rule out a political career. Last autumn, for instance, intimate photos surfaced involving Jindřich Rajchl, a current member of parliament for the SPD party.

According to a pre-election poll by Ipsos, the Free Citizens' Party can expect only around 0.7% of the vote — far below the five-percent threshold needed to win seats on Prague's city assembly. In total, 24 political parties and movements are competing in the Prague municipal elections.
