As part of European Mobility Week, which kicked off on Wednesday, the city of Hradec Králové has organized a series of events for residents. The highlight will be next Tuesday's Car-Free Day, when holders of a driving license will be able to ride public transport free of charge, the city council has announced.

That same day, Tylovo Embankment in the city center — the stretch between Prague Bridge and Tyršův Bridge — will be completely closed to car traffic for the entire day. According to the city, the space will be transformed into an area for games, outdoor activities, gatherings and various forms of movement. A morning program will be organized especially for elementary school pupils, while from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. the embankment will be open to everyone.

Free Scooter Rental All Week

In addition, throughout the week residents can borrow a scooter free of charge at the Kostka shop on Divišova Street. Through these initiatives, the city hopes to draw attention to alternative modes of transport and reduce reliance on private cars, if only for a few days.
