The 18-year-old son of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, Adam, embarrassed himself in public while delivering a prepared speech on the situation in the republic ahead of Russia's State Duma elections. Footage of the moment was published on X by the Telegram channel NextaTV.
In the video, the young Kadyrov reads the text about election preparations and possible provocations slowly and with visible difficulty. According to the Ukrainian outlet Dialog, which analyzed the footage, Adam's speech was so slow, mumbled and labored that while individual phrases could be made out, the overall meaning of the address was lost.
Throughout the reading, the young man stumbled repeatedly, slurred his words and kept glancing down at the text. Judging by the expression on his father's face, Ramzan Kadyrov himself was clearly taken aback by his son's weak performance.
A lack of oratory skills hasn't stopped the 18-year-old Kadyrov from holding a string of key posts. Since the age of 16 he has headed his father's personal security detail, serves as secretary of Chechnya's Security Council, and oversees the republic's Interior Ministry, monitoring the minister's work.
He recently also took command of the "Dustum K-13" unit, whose fighters train in drone operation and destruction as well as tactical shooting at the base of the Chechen special forces unit "Akhmat," according to the Telegram channel Vyorstka.
Adam Kadyrov became widely known in September 2023, when he physically attacked Nikita Zhuravel — who had been detained for burning a Quran — inside a pretrial detention center in Grozny. Rather than facing punishment for the incident, he was twice awarded the title Hero of Chechnya and received more than two dozen other awards along with high-ranking government positions.
