Kallas warns of new Russian sabotage attacks in Europe

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas said on Monday that, according to European intelligence, Russia is preparing new acts of sabotage and attacks against democracy in Europe — aiming to split society, intimidate people, and prevent further aid to Ukraine.

The issue of Russian hybrid warfare returned to the spotlight after an August incident at Leipzig Airport in Germany, where a drone loaded with explosives was found near a Ukrainian cargo plane carrying ammunition. German authorities later said the Kremlin's involvement in the attack has been proven.

According to investigators, Russia's military intelligence agency, the GRU, was behind the arson attacks on the offices of tech companies Rohde & Schwarz and Helsing in Munich. An attack by the same sabotage group on a factory belonging to drone manufacturer Skyeton in Prešov, Slovakia, was thwarted in advance — foiled by local security services.
