Litvínov bids farewell to legendary captain Trávníček after 1,076 games

Hockey club Litvínov held a ceremonial send-off for its long-time captain Radek Trávníček. A native of Děčín, he spent his entire Czech Extraliga career with the North Bohemian club, playing a record 1,076 matches over 21 seasons.

Six years ago, the club's then-management terminated his contract early, before the agreement had run its course. "I wouldn't want to go back to that topic. Everything has come together now with the right people, and I'm enjoying it," Trávníček told reporters at the event, dubbed "The Last Cut."

Stars on the ice and on the bench

Trávníček's former teammates gathered for the farewell match, including Viktor Hübl, František Lukeš and Vojtěch Kubinčák. On the coaching bench, well-known hockey figures such as Robert Reichel and Martin Ručinský came together, alongside the club's current head Jiří Šlégr.

Litvínov's opponents on the ice were Olymp Praha, a team led by actor Martin Dejdar.
