Macron calls for an AI independent of the US and China

French President Emmanuel Macron has called on countries that value their own independence to join forces and develop an alternative model of artificial intelligence so as not to depend on either the United States or China. The news was reported by AFP.

According to him, a coalition of independent nations unwilling to become vassals of either superpower should pool their computing power and investment resources to create an open-source AI model accessible to all participants. "We must not be dependent on either of these countries," the French leader stressed.

Middle East conflict and Gaza

Besides artificial intelligence, Macron once again voiced his support for the creation of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel — the so-called two-state solution. He said it was unacceptable to stand by and watch the "spectacle unfolding in Gaza and the West Bank," calling it a disgrace for everyone.

In the French president's view, the two-state solution is precisely what would guarantee the security of Israel and its people, both now and in the future.

A moratorium on strikes and the grain deal

Speaking about the war in Ukraine, which began with Russia's invasion in February 2022, Macron backed the idea of a moratorium on strikes against energy and civilian infrastructure on both sides. He also proposed a separate moratorium in the Black Sea — which, he said, would allow grain trade to resume and remove concerns over food security.
