Man dies after insect bite in the Bruntál region

A tragic incident occurred on Saturday at around 11 a.m. in a hard-to-reach wooded area near Karlovice (Bruntál district): a 54-year-old man died from a severe reaction to an insect bite. This was reported by Lukáš Humpl, spokesperson for the Moravian-Silesian Region's Emergency Medical Service.

A rescue team from Vrbno pod Pradědem and a medical crew from Bruntál were dispatched to the scene. A passer-by was the first to reach the man and immediately began performing CPR. When paramedics arrived, they took over the resuscitation efforts.

"Despite all our efforts, we were unable to restore the man's vital functions, and the doctor had to pronounce him dead," Humpl said.

Six more cases in a single day

According to the regional emergency service, paramedics in the Moravian-Silesian Region responded to insect bite incidents seven times on Saturday. In six of those cases, tragedy was averted.

Two patients were treated on the spot and left under home observation. Four other victims, aged between 7 and 64, received emergency care and were then taken to nearby hospitals for further monitoring.
