Man opens fire with 9mm pistol from Prague flat window

In Prague's Pod Kavalírkou street, a man opened fire from the window of a fourth-floor flat in a residential building. Several eyewitnesses reported the incident, and police who were called to the scene detained the shooter and seized the weapon — a 9mm pistol.

“We were alerted to the shooting by several callers. The man was firing a 9mm pistol from the window of a fourth-floor flat,” said police spokesman Jan Daněk.

According to police, no one was injured. Due to his poor mental state, the man was handed over to paramedics — preliminary information suggests this may have been the reason behind the shooting.

Police now need to determine whether the man legally owned the weapon and how he came to have it.
