New Tatra armored vehicle overturns at Tank Day event in Lešany

A brand-new armored vehicle made by Tatra flipped over on Saturday during the traditional Tank Day event at the museum complex in Lešany. The incident occurred at around 1:34 p.m. The vehicle was being driven by a 33-year-old man, with two other adult men and two minors also on board, according to police spokeswoman Barbora Šněvajsová.

She said the driver's breathalyzer test came back negative. A police patrol is on the scene, and traffic police officers have also been dispatched to investigate the circumstances of the crash.

Three people injured

Ambulance crews and an emergency services inspector responded to the call. Three people were injured, said Monika Nováková, spokeswoman for the rescue services. One patient with a head injury and suspected concussion was taken to Prague's Thomayer University Hospital. The other two sustained less serious injuries.

A new product from the Czech defense industry

The vehicle that overturned is a Tatra Tadeáš 4×4, an armored vehicle built on the Tatra Force chassis. It is manufactured by Tatra Defence, based in Kopřivnice, part of the Czechoslovak Group (CSG) holding owned by arms magnate Michal Strnad. The vehicle was first unveiled to the public in June this year at the Eurosatory arms exhibition in Paris, and Tank Day in Lešany marked one of its first public demonstrations in Czechia.
