The Prague 6 district municipality will install a blue commemorative plaque in Petr Šabach Park in Dejvice to honor the writer. The unveiling ceremony will take place on 16 September 2026 at 16:00, marking the anniversary of his death, the Prague 6 municipal office has announced.
The event will be attended by director Jan Hřebejk, who was one of the writer's closest creative collaborators. It was on his initiative that the previously unnamed square in Dejvice was named "Šabach Park" back in 2018.
Šabach and Hřebejk together created several landmark works, and their creative partnership is regarded as one of the most notable writer-director duos in contemporary Czech culture. The installation of the memorial plaque is another gesture of respect for the legacy of the writer, who was closely tied to the Dejvice district where he lived.
