Russia conducts test launch of intercontinental ballistic missile

Russia's Defense Ministry has announced a test launch of a solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile. The missile was launched from a mobile launcher at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region, the military department reported on Telegram.

The mock target was the Kura test range on Kamchatka, located more than 6,700 kilometers from the launch site.

“A flawless trajectory: the launch went perfectly. The goal of the launch was to verify the tactical, technical and flight characteristics of the missile system,” the ministry's statement said.

The ministry did not specify exactly which missile was used. However, the opposition outlet The Moscow Times noted that during May's strategic missile forces exercises, RS-24 Yars missiles had already been launched from Plesetsk to Kamchatka.
