Sikorski Addresses Lavrov Directly at UN Meeting: "Tell Your Boss — Enough Is Enough"

At a UN Security Council meeting, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski delivered a scathing rebuke to Russia, saying that Moscow has spent more than twelve years trying to seize Donbas and over four years trying to take Kyiv — without success.

"Heroic Ukraine has stopped you. A country with a tenth of Russia's GDP. Meanwhile, Poland's GDP is almost half of yours, Europe's GDP is ten times larger, and NATO's GDP is twenty-five times larger. You can still kill a great many people, but you cannot win," Sikorski said.

A direct message to Lavrov

The Polish foreign minister then addressed Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov directly, even though Lavrov was not in the chamber at the time. "Stop threatening Europe and the world. Stop destroying Russia's future. Sergey, I know you can hear me — tell your boss that enough is enough," Sikorski said, in a message clearly intended for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Earlier in the Security Council session, Lavrov claimed that Russia is ready to discuss a "sustainable and just peace." At the same time, he said Russia's leadership rejects any pause in hostilities for the duration of negotiations.
