In central Prague, an outdoor gas heater exploded and caught fire on a restaurant's summer terrace. Three people suffered first- and second-degree burns and were handed over to medics, Novinky reports, citing firefighters and paramedics.
“It was an explosion and fire of an outdoor heater on a restaurant terrace, which was, however, quickly extinguished,” said fire service spokesperson Miroslav Režač. According to him, three fire crews were sent to the scene. Using a thermal camera, they are checking the site, putting out remaining hot spots and ventilating smoke-filled rooms.
Paramedics sent five units to the restaurant: three crews, including one with a doctor and one with a supervisor. “We treated three patients with first- and second-degree burns,” said paramedic spokesperson Karel Kris. All the injured remained conscious throughout.
Police are investigating the causes and circumstances of the explosion.
