Strong storms with hail and gale-force winds to sweep across most of Czechia on Monday

A severe thunderstorm warning comes into force across Czechia at noon on Monday. Meteorologists say the bad weather will first hit southern and eastern Bohemia before spreading across all of Moravia and Silesia by 9 pm.

According to forecasters, the southeastern half of the country can expect strong thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, bringing around 30 millimetres of rain, some hail, and gusts of wind reaching up to 20 metres per second (70 km/h) in places.

Cooler weather after the heat

With the arrival of rain and storms, temperatures across Czechia will gradually drop. On Monday, daytime highs are expected to reach only 23–28°C, and just 19–23°C in northwestern Bohemia. However, despite the rain and cooling temperatures, a nationwide fire risk warning remains in effect until further notice.
