Turek Did Not Become Czech Foreign Minister — Got a Commissioner's Office Instead

Czech politician Filip Turek, a key figure in the Motoristé party, never did become foreign minister — even though that was the post he was promised after the party entered the Czech government following the elections. Instead, Turek was given the less prominent role of government commissioner and now works out of the Environment Ministry building in Prague's Vršovice district.

The environment minister's post had initially been considered for Turek as well, but it ultimately went to party leader Petr Macinka, who, unlike his colleague, travels abroad frequently on official visits. Turek himself reportedly does not even have the right to an official driver — and is said to struggle to make his own way by car from the Government Office in Malá Strana to the ministry in Vršovice.

The story surrounding mustard gas — a chemical warfare agent that, according to some reports, has been linked to Turek's name in the Šumava region — also remains unclear. Details of the case still raise questions.
