Canelo Alvarez steps into the ring against unbeaten Christian Mbilli on Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The WBC super middleweight title is on the line, and the fight is Alvarez's first chance to answer his recent defeat to Terence Crawford.
According to MMA Fighting, the main event is expected to start around 4:30 p.m. ET on DAZN pay-per-view. The bout is scheduled for 12 rounds, Depor reported.
MMA Fighting lists Alvarez's record as 63-3-2 with 39 knockouts. He is trying to recover from a unanimous decision loss to Crawford, which cost him his WBC, IBF, WBO and The Ring super middleweight titles. Depor dates that loss to September 2025.
Mbilli is 29-0-1 with 24 knockouts. MMA Fighting reported that he was elevated to WBC super middleweight champion after Crawford retired, and Depor said the elevation came in January 2026. MMA Fighting also noted that Mbilli's draw came in a split-decision result against Lester Martinez last September.
Depor described Mbilli as a French-Cameroonian boxer with an aggressive, forward-pressure style. It said Alvarez is expected to lean on his championship experience, precise punching and body attack.
Depor and MyMMANews list the following bouts. Depor labels the first five as the main card, and MyMMANews places them on the pay-per-view portion:
MyMMANews said the pay-per-view portion of the card begins at 2 p.m. ET, with preliminary bouts starting at 10 a.m. ET.
MyMMANews reported three finished preliminary bouts:
The preliminary bout between Sultan Almohammed and Erick Villegas was listed without a result in the MyMMANews report.
For viewers, the main event is a pay-per-view broadcast on DAZN. The sources do not give a price. The listed start times are in Eastern time, so fans elsewhere will need to convert them. Those watching live should note that the main event is expected well after the preliminary and undercard action begins.
For the two fighters, the stakes are different. Depor wrote that a win would give Alvarez a statement victory and put him back among the leading contenders in the super middleweight division. For Mbilli, Depor described the fight as a chance at the biggest win of his professional career and a major test of his reign as champion.
The final result, method of victory and judges' scorecards will determine who holds the WBC super middleweight belt after Saturday.
