Babiš on incidents in Germany: "The situation is serious"

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said that the events unfolding in Germany in recent days point to the seriousness of the situation in the region. He specifically mentioned the attack in Leipzig, which German intelligence services have linked to Russia.

According to the prime minister, an investigation is also needed into Wednesday's incident at the train station in Augsburg, where a morning explosion injured at least two people. Police and explosives experts are working at the scene. According to the German newspaper Bild, a hand grenade went off at the station.

Czech Foreign Ministry's response

Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka (from the Motorists for Themselves movement) said on Wednesday that reports of Russian involvement in the planned attack on Leipzig Airport are alarming. Macinka has already announced his intention to summon the Russian ambassador for an explanation and plans to discuss the situation with intelligence officials.

Sabotage at energy facilities

German authorities are also investigating as sabotage a Tuesday incident at a distribution substation in western Germany, near Cologne. This case follows an attack on a substation near the Jänschwalde power plant.
