Thousands of people lined up in Belgrade to pay their last respects to former Bosnian Serb military commander Ratko Mladić. The convicted war criminal died at the age of 84 while in custody in The Hague.

The farewell ceremony drew large crowds of supporters, some of whom kissed his coffin and hailed him as a "hero." The funeral took place in the afternoon at Belgrade's Topčider Cemetery.

Ratko Mladić was found guilty of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the Bosnian War in the 1990s, including the Srebrenica massacre. The international tribunal sentenced him to life in prison.
