Douděra Could Leave Slavia for MLS: Cincinnati Eyeing the Midfielder

Slavia Prague midfielder Adam Douděra could be heading to the United States. According to The Athletic, MLS side FC Cincinnati are keen to sign the 28-year-old Czech, reportedly eyeing him for the right flank of midfield.

Such a move would open up space in the centre of the park for another Czech player, Bucha, who has recently been deployed in the unfamiliar role of right wing-back. A shift back into central midfield would be a natural consequence of Douděra's departure.

Interest from several clubs

According to iSport.cz, Slovan Bratislava have already been in contact with the player. Besides the Slovak club, the Czech midfielder has also attracted interest from Belgium's Anderlecht, England's Preston North End, and another MLS outfit, Real Salt Lake. Per Transfermarkt, Douděra's market value stands at €3.5 million (roughly 85 million koruna).

Frozen out of the first team

Douděra hasn't featured for Slavia since May's Prague derby against Sparta. Following that match, the club's management sidelined both him and forward Tomáš Chorý from the first team and gave them permission to look for new clubs.

"Both players have been left out of the first-team squad for the rest of the season and have been given the green light to move in the summer transfer window. Neither of them will play for Slavia again," club chairman Jaroslav Tvrdík said on the Odbor přátel Slavie podcast.

In Chorý's case, however, the original decision was later reversed after intervention from Slavia owner Pavel Tykač. "This morning I received a firm instruction from the shareholder, obliging me to bring Chorý back into the first team," Tvrdík revealed at a pre-season press conference. Since then, Chorý has played in three league matches, scored against Bohemians and featured in the derby win over Sparta.

Douděra, on the other hand, has not returned to the squad, and a move to Cincinnati now looks increasingly likely. This summer, the midfielder represented the Czech national team at the World Cup, playing the full final group-stage match against Mexico. He joined Slavia from Mladá Boleslav in 2022 and has made 153 appearances for the red-and-whites across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing 22 assists.
