Free "Safely to School" workshops for children to be held in Prague

Prague's Pankrác district will once again host a series of free workshops for children and parents as part of the "Safely to School" educational campaign — the sessions will take place at the Krav Maga Academy.

The campaign's aim is not to frighten children, but to show them, in a playful, practical and age-appropriate way, the basic principles of staying safe on the way to school, on the playground, in after-school clubs and out on the street. In the sessions, children learn to recognize when a situation has gone wrong, to set personal boundaries, to say a clear "no," to understand who to turn to for help, and to react safely and in a way appropriate to their age.

Based on their experience running regular children's courses, the organizers have found that it helps children a great deal to know in advance what to do if someone is behaving strangely, crossing their boundaries, or if they feel scared and aren't sure whether to run away, call for help, say "no" or turn to an adult. Not every child can attend regular courses, but the organizers believe every child should have the chance to learn to feel more confident away from home.

The workshops are free and are also suitable for children who have never taken part in the program before and have no prior experience with it.
