Kremlin says there are no conditions for peace talks with Ukraine

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there are currently no preconditions for moving toward peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. His remarks were reported by the Ukrainian news agency Unian. At the same time, Peskov insisted that the Kremlin supposedly "remains open" to a peaceful settlement.

Summit ruled out once again

The Kremlin spokesman once again dismissed the possibility of arranging a summit between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky. "Our position is well known. Putin said Zelensky can come to Moscow if he wants to. He will be given the necessary security guarantees," Peskov said.

According to him, the Ukrainian president supposedly knows himself "what decisions need to be made" for a meeting with Putin to take place at all.

Zelensky counts on China's mediation

On Tuesday, at the UN General Assembly in New York, Zelensky urged US President Donald Trump to bring Chinese President Xi Jinping into the negotiating process, arguing that Xi has influence over the Russian president.

The Ukrainian leader had previously said he was counting on the Chinese leader's involvement in efforts to end the war in Ukraine. Talks between the US and Chinese leaders are scheduled for Thursday.
