Motorola unveils flagship with 200MP periscope zoom and diamond cooling

Motorola has unveiled a new flagship smartphone that the company itself calls the most advanced in its history. The reveal took place on Tuesday at the Snapdragon Summit conference in Hawaii, with the device named Signature 27. The new phone is expected to hit the market in 2026, though the manufacturer has yet to disclose an exact release date or price.

Diamond cooling for extreme performance

At the heart of the smartphone lies the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip — according to Motorola, one of the most powerful mobile processors on the market. To handle the heat generated by such performance, Motorola has reworked its signature ArcticMesh cooling system, which now combines diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, a copper mesh, and a new 3D vapor chamber.

According to the company, the cooling system itself is 40% larger than in the previous generation of devices. It's designed to dissipate heat during resource-intensive tasks such as AI processing, gaming, and video playback. Motorola also promises long-term software support: seven OS updates and up to seven years of security updates from the global launch date.

A camera with 200-megapixel zoom

One of the standout features of the new model is its camera. The main sensor, a Sony Lytia 910, offers a 50-megapixel resolution, but the periscope telephoto lens is even more impressive — its sensor boasts a 200-megapixel resolution. This lens is designed to capture distant details, architecture, and landscapes without any loss of quality.

Video recording is enhanced by the Video Enhancement Engine, which uses AI to adjust color rendering in real time depending on the scene. Optical image stabilization from Qualcomm is also included for handheld shooting, moving shots, and panoramic mode.

The manufacturer is also betting big on artificial intelligence: the smartphone will feature integration with Google Gemini for trip planning, bookings, and ticket searches, while the Gemini Omni service will be able to generate videos from text prompts, photos, or existing footage. The Lyria feature will let users create music and custom soundtracks.

Bang & Olufsen sound for the first time

The new model also stands out for its audio — it's the first Motorola smartphone to feature Audio by B&O technology, the result of a longstanding partnership with Danish audio brand Bang & Olufsen.

Design has received special attention too: the aluminum body features sculpted edges, while the distinctive camera module combines a ceramic surface with polished aluminum. The smartphone will be available in two colors — Pantone Coal Smoke with a Tactical Weave texture, and Pantone Capulet Green with a brushed-textile-style finish. Motorola plans to reveal full specifications and pricing closer to the model's 2026 launch.
