Ovechkin racks up 33 traffic fines during four-month vacation back home

Washington Capitals forward and NHL's top goal-scorer Alexander Ovechkin racked up 33 traffic violations during his four-month vacation in Russia, according to Russian outlet Mash Sport. The hockey star has been cruising around his homeland in a luxury Aurus Arsenal minivan bearing the symbolic license plate 008.

Depending on the trim, such a vehicle can cost up to 50 million rubles (roughly 14 million CZK) — and judging by footage from Russian media, Ovechkin's model appears to be one of the pricier configurations. Sticking to the rules of the road, however, clearly isn't high on his list of priorities behind the wheel.

What he was fined for

The violations include speeding, unpaid parking, driving on a toll road without payment, and stopping or parking in prohibited areas. Of the 33 fines, Ovechkin has already paid 32.

The total came to 82,000 rubles, or roughly 23,000 CZK — hardly a dent in the hockey star's wallet. It's worth noting that Ovechkin signed a $4.25 million contract (nearly 90 million CZK) with the Washington Capitals for the upcoming season.
