Traffic police in the South Moravian Region carried out a drone-assisted patrol on the D1 motorway, catching trucks that were overtaking other vehicles in areas where this is banned by road signs. The operation took place on Thursday, with police announcing the results on Tuesday.
According to police spokeswoman Petra Grulová, the operation focused specifically on violations of the ban on truck overtaking in sections of the road where it applies. She noted that ignoring such restrictions disrupts the flow of traffic and increases the risk of dangerous situations on the motorway.
The raid began at five in the morning and lasted six hours. During that time, officers recorded 16 traffic violations, issuing fines totaling nearly 80,000 crowns. The police spokeswoman added that similar drone-based checks will continue to be carried out in South Moravia in the future.
