Pub Patrons and Police Save Man Who Collapsed Unconscious Near Hodonín

In the town of Dubňany in the Hodonín region, a man suddenly lost consciousness at the local restaurant "Pod Lípami" on Tuesday evening at around 6:30 pm. According to police, nearby patrons were the first to rush to his aid, immediately calling emergency services.

The police station in Dubňany is close by, so a patrol arrived at the scene within just a few minutes, said police spokesman Petr Vala.

Friends provided first aid

It turned out the incident occurred during a charity darts tournament. "We were just running the tournament — he was keeping score, and we'd just reached 17 when he suddenly collapsed on the floor. I should mention he doesn't drink at all — not a drop. He only comes to the bar for coffee and a chat," said the establishment's manager.

According to him, first aid was given by two of the man's acquaintances, Martin and Zdeněk. "I called the emergency line, and the two friends immediately started helping. They put him in a stable position and gave him first aid," the restaurant owner explained.

A helicopter was dispatched to the scene

Upon arrival, police officers connected the man to an external defibrillator. "After analyzing his heart rhythm, the device did not recommend a shock. Officers also had a medical kit with them, but it wasn't needed this time," noted police spokesman Petr Vala.

Paramedics soon arrived at the scene, including a rescue service helicopter, and took over the man's care.
