Tram hits man in central Prague, victim in critical condition

In central Prague, a tram struck a man believed to be in his fifties on Náměstí I. P. Pavlova on Tuesday evening. The collision occurred shortly after 8 p.m., and the exact cause has yet to be determined.

According to Jana Poštová, head of the operations department of Prague's Emergency Medical Service, the injured man suffered a serious head injury and remained unconscious throughout the time paramedics were treating him. Medics intubated him, connected him to a ventilator, administered the necessary medication and fluids, then stabilised him and transported him to the trauma centre of a Prague hospital.

Police are now investigating the circumstances of the incident. Tram traffic in the area had to be fully suspended for around 50 minutes as a result of the collision.
