Two people killed by trains on the same day in tracks around Brno

On Thursday afternoon, around 5 p.m., a train struck and killed a person on the tracks on the line between Brno and Bílovice nad Svitavou. This was already the second such tragedy that day on the railway in the Brno region.

According to the Czech Railways website, a passenger train collided with a person who was on the tracks. The carrier has already cancelled four train services, and express trains between Brno and Kolín are now being rerouted via Havlíčkův Brod, bypassing stops in Česká Třebová and Pardubice.

Buses instead of trains

"Passengers travelling from Brno to Adamov can use replacement bus services to Blansko, where they can transfer to passenger trains heading to Adamov. The stops at Bílovice nad Svitavou and Babice nad Svitavou are not being served, so passengers should use regular bus lines instead," the railway authority announced on its website. According to their information, the disruption is expected to be resolved by around 7 p.m.

Already the second tragedy of the day

Earlier on Thursday morning, a similar accident occurred in Rajhrad, also in the Brno district. Train traffic was suspended there for two hours. Czech Railways arranged replacement bus services on the Modřice–Hrušovany u Brna section.
