Vémola knocks out unbeaten German at OKTAGON 94

Czech mixed martial artist Karlos Vémola, nicknamed the Terminator, scored a commanding technical knockout victory over unbeaten German fighter Frederick Vosgröne at OKTAGON 94 in Frankfurt. According to organizers, the 41-year-old Czech landed 175 strikes against the German's 27 and finished the fight with just ten seconds left in the second round.

A two-round demolition

In the first round, Vémola wore his opponent down on the ground, and in the second he kept up the pressure against the cage fence, where he showed off the often-criticized boxing he's known for. The German suffered serious cuts, while the Czech also worked the body hard and landed knee strikes. The fight ended early: Vémola finished off his bloodied opponent on the ground with just ten seconds left in the round.

"I said it before — the best defense is offense, and that's exactly what I did today. Thanks to my opponent for pulling me out of retirement," the winner said after the fight. "My grandmother once told me: unlucky in love, lucky in games. Today I got lucky. I had a serious injury, personal problems, I looked terrible, but I'm back!" Vémola said, delighted.

In just under ten minutes of action, the Terminator was never in serious trouble: he knew full well that his opponent was especially dangerous on the ground and kept a close eye on his attempts to lock in a leg submission. "He's known for that, he's a great fighter. But my coaches are great too," the Czech commented.

A booed favorite and plans for the future

Before the fight, the crowd booed Vémola — Vosgröne, popular in Germany, had been unbeaten up to that point and had a huge following in Frankfurt. "It would have been strange if they weren't on his side," the Czech fighter shrugged, for whom this was already his 39th career win. He is a former Oktagon champion in the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions.

Vémola made it clear he has no plans to retire. "Is there anyone left besides Fleury? He hasn't been champion for a while now — not in light heavyweight, not in heavyweight. Right now my friend Muradov rules there, and I'd never call him out for a fight. And when I fought Will, I lost to a better fighter, and honestly, I don't know how to beat him. But it's also true that my very first fight in my career was at heavyweight — so if you give me one last fight at heavyweight, I don't mind," he said with a smile, looking toward the Irishman who beat him in late 2024 and stripped him of the light heavyweight title.

Another Czech win at the event

Another win for the Czechs came from David Kozma, who dominated German crowd favorite Christian Eckerlin in the main event of the evening: the Czech quickly took his opponent down and submitted him with just two seconds left in the first round.
