What the Mayors' Offices in Czechia's Biggest Cities Look Like

The news portal Seznam Zprávy has shown what the offices of the primátors (mayors) of Czechia's 12 largest cities look like, and asked designers to assess the setting in each one. The project appeared just ahead of the municipal elections taking place on October 9–10, 2026 — it is the newly elected city councils that will then decide who takes the mayor's chair.

The authors of the series looked into the offices of the heads of the regional capitals to see what colors, furniture and décor they surround themselves with while making key decisions. Some offices are decorated in a modern style, others are housed in historic buildings; the experts assessed who succeeded best at furnishing and keeping their workspace stylistically consistent.

The review includes the offices of the mayors of Prague, Brno, Hradec Králové, Karlovy Vary, České Budějovice, Olomouc, Liberec, Ústí nad Labem, Ostrava, Pardubice, Jihlava and Plzeň. The one exception was Zlín: according to the outlet, the city never sent photos of its office despite repeated requests from the editorial team.

All twelve offices are gathered in a single gallery, where readers can browse through each one and vote for their favorite.
