Zelensky Announces New Deal on Patriot Missile Deliveries, but Won't Name the Country

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he has secured an agreement on the supply of missiles for Patriot air defence systems, though he declined to say which country is providing them or how many are involved. The statement was reported by Yevropeiska Pravda.

"Today we reached an agreement — I won't say with whom — on the supply of missiles for the Patriot systems. This is an important decision," Zelensky said, adding that the missiles for Ukraine's air defence would be delivered soon.

Talks with Trump in New York

The announcement came in the wake of Zelensky's meeting with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. Following the talks, Zelensky said Trump had responded positively to the idea of granting licences for the production of Patriot missiles.

The US State Department, however, later clarified that no final decision had yet been made on issuing such production licences to Kyiv.

Patriot missiles remain the only air defence asset Ukraine has that can reliably intercept Russian ballistic missiles.
